A charming little piece with real mid-century character. This Bay Keramik wall vase, model 336, was made in West Germany before 1971 and still has its original raffia hanging cord with knotted tassels at each side.
The form is a flat-backed hanging vase with a classic curvy silhouette, glazed throughout in a warm mustard-yellow with subtle relief decoration on the front: a stylised foliate motif with leaf pairs branching from a central stem, picked out in darker amber where the glaze pools into the recesses. The back bears the impressed mark "BAY W-GERMANY 336."
Bay Keramik, based in Ransbach-Baumbach, was one of West Germany‘s most prolific and well-regarded mid-century pottery producers. Their art pottery line, which included pieces like this wall vase, was discontinued in 1971, making all surviving examples at least fifty years old.

Condition is very good. No chips, no cracks. The raffia cord is intact and in good condition. Minor craquelé in the glaze on the lower body, characteristic of this type of earthenware.
