This characterful ceramic schnapps bottle is modelled in the shape of a tobacco pipe, with the bowl serving as an ashtray on top. The body features a boldly sculpted and hand-painted face of a mustachioed man wearing a woven-style hat with a blue interior, rendered in warm earthy browns and greens against the bark-textured pipe body. With his piercing blue eyes and mysterious expression, he has more than a little of a pirate about him!
The black ceramic pipe stem serves as the stopper, sealed with a cork. A new cork is included, as the original is very vintage but perfectly functional.
The base bears an impressed official mark reading "MINDESTINHALT 0.25" (minimum content 0.25 litre) with a crown and coat of arms stamp and the number 154, indicating Austrian origin and official certification of volume.
This type of piece is typical of Austrian folk art souvenir ceramics from the 1960s, made for the Alpine tourist trade. It is a fully functional liqueur or schnapps decanter and doubles as an ashtray.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks. A new cork is included.
