This little pig has been waiting a long time to make someone smile — and I have a feeling it won't take long.
This is a handmade French ceramic pig-shaped dish, marked "TDF" and "Fait Main" (handmade) on the base, confirming it as a hand-painted piece rather than a factory production item.
The pig forms the body of a long, narrow tray — his expressive face at one end, complete with raised eyebrows, black-tipped snout and a wry little smile, and his tail curling up at the other.
The interior is glazed in a warm creamy yellow with a green border and two beautifully painted red poppies — the kind of loose, confident brushwork that only comes from someone who has painted a thousand of these and still enjoys every one.
This style of cheerful, animal-shaped ceramic kitchenware was especially popular in France in the 1970s and 1980s, and pieces like this are becoming increasingly sought after as a nostalgic and characterful alternative to more serious collectibles.
