This striking large rooster figurine is a wonderful example of the bold decorative style that Gilde Handwerk, the well known German craft brand, became celebrated for. The cockerel stands proudly on a smooth matte black pedestal base, with a richly detailed body finished in a dark anthracite and silver mottled glaze.
The comb, wattles, tail feathers and wing accents are highlighted in lustrous gold, creating a dramatic black and gold contrast that gives this piece a real presence on any shelf or sideboard.
The modelling is confident and stylised, with layered feather details on the tail and wings that catch the light beautifully from every angle. The original gold Gilde Handwerk shield label is still present on the base.
