This expressive ceramic Bull sculpture was created by Juan Ramón Gimeno at Taller de la Cimada Ceramica. Although part of a series, each piece is entirely unique. A mold was used for the basic structure, but the layered application of colored clay using the neriage technique and careful hand modeling ensure that no two sculptures are ever the same.
The organic form, earthy tones and strong tactile surface give this piece a powerful presence. The contrast between the textured outer layers and the darker sculpted interior creates depth and movement, making it a true statement object. A beautiful example of romancing the ordinary, where raw material and craftsmanship transform into sculptural art.
Mounted on its original wooden base, this sculpture works beautifully in a Mid Century, Brutalist or contemporary interior. Perfect as a standalone art piece for collectors who appreciate studio ceramics and one of a kind objects.
