What a find for lovers of vintage kitchen ceramics, this is not your average egg tray. Heavy, substantial, and beautifully made, this set stands out immediately from the lighter, thinner pieces more commonly found. It combines a large glazed ceramic egg tray with a perfectly matching pair of rooster salt and pepper shakers, all finished in the same deep forest green glaze with warm rosy red accents.
The square tray features twelve individual egg cups arranged around a central divided compartment that holds the two figural chicken shakers snugly in place. The entire border is decorated with a continuous row of raised dots, giving it that classic European country kitchen feel.
The weight and thickness of the piece speak to genuinely high quality production.
The shakers themselves are wonderfully sculpted, with expressive faces, bright red combs and wattles, and carefully modeled feather detail — each with small holes on the breast for dispensing salt and pepper.
The style and glaze are consistent with French or German ceramic production of the 1950s to 1960s. No maker's mark was found, but the quality of the casting and glaze is noticeably above average. The tray is glazed on top and unglazed on the base, showing the natural terracotta clay body. The shakers have a corked opening on the underside.
A rare complete and matching set in excellent vintage condition, perfect as a working kitchen piece, for an Easter table, or as a centrepiece in a vintage ceramics collection.

Dieses hochwertige Set aus den 1950er bis 1960er Jahren fällt sofort durch sein Gewicht und seine Qualität auf. Der quadratische Keramik-Eierhalter mit zwölf Mulden und dem passendem Salz- und Pfefferstreuer in Form zweier grüner Hähne ist deutlich massiver und sorgfältiger gearbeitet als vergleichbare Stücke. Der umlaufende Punktrand und das tiefe Waldgrün mit roten Akzenten machen das Set zu einem echten Hingucker. Kein Herstellermarke, aber Stil und Glasur weisen auf französische oder deutsche Produktion hin. Sehr guter Vintage-Zustand.
