What a find. This is a complete and stunning punch bowl set by Allgäuer Keramik from Altständten, a regional studio pottery from the Allgäu area of Bavaria known for its high-quality hand-painted stoneware. The mark on the base reads "Allgäuer Keramik Altständten Handarbeit" — handmade, and every bit of it shows.
The large spherical bowl with fitted lid is hand-painted all over in cobalt blue on a warm cream ground, with a repeating folk motif of radiating flower wheels, tulip buds, scrolling vines and berry clusters. The lid features a beautifully painted sunburst spiral design with a dot border, topped by a cobalt blue knop.
The matching cups are plump and rounded with small loop handles, each decorated with the same folk flower motif. The set includes a slender curved ladle, original to the set, which sits through the lid opening.
This is a genuinely special and complete set in excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks noted. The hand-painted decoration is rich and confident throughout.
