A set of three bowls from the Kahla Duett series, made by VEB Kahla in Thuringia, East Germany, most likely during the 1960s or 1970s. The set consists of one larger and two smaller bowls, all in the same deep cobalt blue glaze with the characteristic embossed circle pattern running around the outside. Fully blue inside and out, these are among the most striking pieces in the Duett collection.
The cylindrical shape with the bold circle relief makes these bowls as beautiful to display as they are to use. They work equally well for breakfast cereals, soup, snacks, or simply as decorative objects on a shelf or table. The two sizes nest nicely for storage and make a cohesive set for everyday use.
None of the bowls carry a printed backstamp; like many Duett pieces, they were originally identified by paper stickers. They are part of a larger Duett collection listed separately in this shop, so combining with other pieces is easy.
Large bowl dimensions: height 5.8 cm / 2.3 inches, diameter 15 cm / 5.9 inches.
Small bowl dimensions: height 4.2 cm / 1.7 inches, diameter 13 cm / 5.1 inches.
Total weight of the set: 1433 g / 50.5 oz.
Condition: very good vintage condition, no chips, no cracks, light traces of use consistent with age.
