A gravy boat with matching saucer from the Kahla Duett series, made by VEB Kahla in Thuringia, East Germany, most likely during the 1960s or 1970s. The gravy boat is white porcelain with the characteristic embossed circle relief on the outside, and sits on a deep cobalt blue saucer with the same circle pattern around the rim, creating the elegant two-tone contrast that defines the Duett line.
The wide, low shape of the gravy boat makes it equally suitable for gravy, cream, salad dressing, or warm sauces. The generous spout pours cleanly and the comfortable handle makes it easy to hold. A lovely piece to use at the table, and beautiful enough to display on its own.
The gravy boat carries the original Kahla blue crown backstamp on the underside. The saucer has no printed mark; like many Duett pieces, it was originally identified by a paper sticker. Both are part of a larger Duett collection listed separately in this shop.
Gravy boat dimensions: height 6.9 cm / 2.7 inches, width 9.7 cm / 3.8 inches, length including spout and handle 14.5 cm / 5.7 inches.
Saucer dimensions: diameter 16.5 cm / 6.5 inches, height 1.8 cm / 0.7 inches.
Total weight: 502 g / 17.7 oz.
Condition: very good vintage condition, no chips, no cracks, light traces of use consistent with age.
