What a find — a ceramic oven dish shaped like a perfectly round apple, complete with a small sculpted stem on top. The glossy deep green exterior glaze has a lively, slightly mottled quality that gives it real character, while the creamy white interior is smooth and clean.
The apple silhouette with its characteristic top indent and little stem makes this as decorative as it is functional.
Use it for individual apple crumbles, roasted onions, or a single-serving gratin — or simply display it in your kitchen as a sculptural mid-century piece. The unglazed base shows no maker's mark, though the style and construction are consistent with West German ceramic production of the 1950s.
