Bring a sense of peace and spiritual depth into your home with this beautifully handcarved folding travel shrine from China. This wooden triptych features:
Centerpiece: The Laughing Buddha (Budai), symbol of joy, prosperity, and contentment.
Left and right panels: Two Dharma Protectors (护法神, hufa shen), powerful guardian figures in traditional Buddhist devotion.
Exterior panels: Delicate lotus carvings and Chinese calligraphy reading “Buddha’s Light Shines Everywhere” and “May All Beings Be Saved.”
This vintage shrine likely dates from the mid to late 20th century, and is crafted from richly toned wood. It folds shut for easy travel, and was traditionally used by monks or devout travelers.
