This is a genuinely special piece — and not just because it's beautiful.
This ceramic advent candle holder was made by Jasba, one of Germany's most celebrated mid-century pottery manufacturers, and this particular example is the rare pre-1949 version of their classic model 1924/25. We know this because the base mark reads simply "Germany" — without the word "West." From 1949 onward, German manufacturers were required to use "West Germany" on export pieces, meaning this bowl was made before the country was divided. The same model continued to be produced into the West Germany era, but this earlier example has a quiet historical significance that the later versions simply don't carry.
The glaze is a breathtaking soft celadon — a cool, luminous mint green with a smooth satin finish that catches the light beautifully. The shape is elegant and restrained: a shallow, wide bowl with a delicately scalloped wavy rim and fine ribbed detailing along the edge, with four small candle holders positioned evenly around the inner rim. It works equally well as an advent wreath base, a flower bowl, or simply as a decorative object in its own right.
