Round, cheerful, and full of character.
This compact jug has a form all its own within this Maltese collection: a squat, globular body with pronounced vertical ribbing, a narrow cylindrical neck, and a small looped handle. The body is divided into segments by raised ridges, each panel slightly different in decoration.
The front panel carries two hand-painted green fish, outlined in dark blue and facing each other across a vertical stripe of yellow-green lattice pattern. The flanking panels show alternating bands of deep navy dotted relief and green diamond-grid texture, all under a bright sky-blue glaze that ties everything together.
It is a lively, tactile little piece, the kind of thing that earns its place on a windowsill or kitchen shelf simply by being good company.
The base carries the hand-incised mark K1, no country stamp or further identification. Based on style and the known provenance of this collection, Malta, circa 1960s. The exact atelier remains unidentified despite research.
This jug comes from a private collection originally assembled in Malta and brought to a small shop in Konstanz, Germany. More pieces from this same collection are available in the shop.
Dimensions: 13 cm tall, 8.5 cm wide (5.1 × 3.3 inches). Weight: 211 g.

Die gedrungene, gerippte Form mit kleinem Henkel ist einzigartig innerhalb dieser Kollektion. Auf der Vorderseite zwei handgemalte grüne Fische in dunkelblauer Konturlinie, flankiert von Bändern mit Punktrelief und Rautenmuster, alles unter einer hellen himmelsblauen Glasur. Bodenmarke K1, kein weiterer Herstellernachweis, ca. 1960er Jahre.
