A small vase that makes a big impression.
The shape is elegant and assured, a rounded teardrop body rising to a gently flared neck, the kind of silhouette that feels both ancient and mid-century modern at once.
The entire surface burns in a deep volcanic red, mottled with black in the same hand-applied brushwork seen throughout this collection. Against that intense background, a bold fish swims upward, outlined in black with patches of yellow-green, cobalt blue, and white.
Two bubbles drift above it. The motif is graphic and confident, painted with the same stained-glass outlining technique that characterises all pieces from this series.
The interior is glazed in clean off-white. The base carries a hand-incised number 518, no maker‘s mark or country stamp. Based on style, glaze, and provenance, Malta, circa 1960s. The exact atelier remains unidentified despite research.
This vase comes from a private collection originally assembled in Malta and brought to a small shop in Konstanz, Germany. More pieces from this same collection are available in the shop.
Dimensions: 15 cm tall, 7.5 cm wide (5.9 × 3 inches). Weight: 296 g.
Color may vary on your screen (slightly dark or lighter, not a completely different color)
