The fish on this vase is enormous, sweeping, almost theatrical.
It fills the entire front face of the vase, a great curving form with a long dramatic tail fin that winds around to the back, its body divided into bold sections of deep red, yellow-green, and white, all outlined in black in the same stained-glass style seen throughout this collection.
There is something almost heraldic about it, a creature that owns the space it occupies.
The form is a wide-shouldered teardrop with a gently flared neck, broader and more generous than the other pieces in this series. The background glaze is a deep mottled blue-grey, shifting between slate and teal, applied with loose brushwork that gives it an atmospheric, painterly quality.
The interior is glazed in clean off-white. The base carries no model number or maker‘s mark.
Based on style, glaze, and the known provenance of this collection, Malta, circa 1960s. The exact atelier remains unidentified despite research.
This vase comes from a private collection originally assembled in Malta and brought to a small shop in Konstanz, Germany. More pieces from this same collection are available in the shop.
Dimensions: 15 cm tall, 7.5 cm wide (5.9 × 3 inches). Weight: 278 g.

Eine einzelne Vase aus derselben Privatsammlung, ursprünglich in Malta zusammengetragen und später in einem kleinen Laden in Konstanz angeboten. Der handgemalte Fisch nimmt hier fast die gesamte Vorderseite ein, mit einer langen geschwungenen Schwanzflosse, die um die Rückseite führt, in Rot, Gelbgrün und Weiß auf tiefem gesprenkeltem Blaugrau. Kein Modellnummer, kein Herstellernachweis, ca. 1960er Jahre.
