A sweet and cheerful vintage vase by Marei Keramik, the well-known West German pottery from Rheinbach, dating from the 1960s. The form number 9101/1 is impressed into the base alongside the "Made in Germany" mark.
The vase has a wide, low-slung body tapering up into a slender elongated neck with a gently flared rim. The body is decorated with hand-painted pansy flowers in deep cobalt blue and warm brown, each with a yellow centre, set against scattered green leaves on a creamy white speckled ground. The neck transitions beautifully into a mottled olive green glaze, giving the piece a lovely two-toned effect that is very characteristic of Marei‘s output from this period.
The terracotta clay body is visible at the rim of the foot, as is typical for Marei pieces.
The vase is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age consistent with normal use and storage. A charming piece for any lover of mid-century West German ceramics or folk-inspired floral decor.
