This striking vase by Scheurich is a wonderful example of West German fat lava pottery at its most expressive. The model number 520-22 is clearly marked on the base alongside "Germany," dating this piece to the 1960s.
The glaze is a vivid yellow-ochre with warm brown mottling, forming the bubbly, volcanic texture that collectors love. The silhouette is elegantly simple — a tall cylindrical body that widens slightly toward the base, with a gently flared collar at the top. It has real presence on a shelf.
The interior is glazed in dark brown-black, and the base retains its unglazed stoneware foot ring. No chips or cracks — just the honest patina of a well-travelled vintage piece.
