Details
Round, bold and impossible to ignore, this vintage Scheurich ceramic piggy bank is one of the most cheerful things you will ever put on a shelf. Made in West Germany in the 1960s, it belongs to Scheurich's model 792 line, a classic in the world of West German art pottery collectibles. The deep cherry red glaze covers every curve of this generously sized pig, while hand-painted folk art flowers in forest green and dark accents wrap around the entire body. Each side shows a slightly different arrangement of blooms and leaves, giving the decoration a lively, almost asymmetrical character. The coin slot sits neatly on top between the ears, and the original metal plug with its key is still in place on the underside, a detail that significantly adds to the collectible value of this piece. The unglazed feet show honest wear from age and use, and there is a possible model or production number visible on the base, though it is partially obscured. The glaze itself is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. A wonderful piece for fans of West German ceramics, folk art decor, or anyone looking for a statement piece with a smile built in. Dimensions: Height: 17.5 cm / 6.9 inch Length: 20.5 cm / 8.1 inch Width: 15 cm / 5.9 inch Weight: 986 g / 2.2 lb If you're outside the EU, please message me for shipping costs.
