Three serving platters from the Kahla Duett series, made by VEB Kahla in Thuringia, East Germany, most likely during the 1960s or 1970s. A practical and elegant set consisting of one larger platter and two smaller ones, all carrying the characteristic embossed circle motif on the short sides that ties them unmistakably to the Duett line.
The rectangular shape with gently curved corners makes these platters wonderfully versatile, equally at home serving cold cuts, cheese, bread, or as a base for the Duett sugar and creamer set. The clean white glaze pairs beautifully with the cobalt blue pieces in the series.
All three platters have an impressed number on the underside, the large platter is marked 32 and the two smaller ones are marked 28, likely Kahla mold numbers.
There is no printed backstamp; like many Duett pieces, they were originally identified by paper stickers.
They are part of a larger Duett collection listed separately in this shop, so combining with other pieces is easy.
Large platter dimensions: length 34 cm / 13.4 inches, width 18 cm / 7.1 inches, height 2.8 cm / 1.1 inches.
Small platters dimensions: length 30.6 cm / 12 inches, width 16 cm / 6.3 inches, height 2.7 cm / 1.1 inches.
Total weight of the set: 2315 g / 81.6 oz.
Condition: very good vintage condition, no chips, no cracks, light traces of use consistent with age.
