This charming vintage ceramic “Opium Cat” is a traditional style bed warmer designed to be filled with hot water and used as a head or neck rest, foot warmer, or simply as a sculptural decorative accent.
The name “Opium Cat” refers to historic ceramic cat forms originating from Chinese tradition. While the name remained over time, pieces like this were primarily used as warming vessels for comfort during colder nights. Today, it makes a distinctive statement piece with both cultural reference and practical heritage.
The warm brown glaze has beautiful tonal variation, giving the cat depth and character. Its sculptural, reclining form makes it equally suited for an eclectic interior, a curated vintage shelf, or as a conversation piece.
There are two small areas where the glaze did not fully adhere during production. These are clearly visible in the photos and video and are reflected in the price. They are not structural flaws and do not affect usability. In my opinion, they add authentic vintage charm.

Diese keramische Wärmekatze im sogenannten Opium Cat Stil stammt aus den 1970er Jahren und wurde traditionell mit heißem Wasser befüllt, um als Bettwärmer oder Nackenstütze zu dienen. Die warme braune Glasur und die liegende Form verleihen ihr eine besondere Ausstrahlung. Kleine Glasurstellen sind vorhanden und im Preis berücksichtigt. Ein außergewöhnliches Sammlerstück mit Charakter.
