A wonderfully expressive owl lantern in hand-built stoneware, finished in a mottled dark brown and cream glaze that gives the surface a rich, almost bark-like texture. The large round eyes are pierced through so the candlelight flickers warmly from within, and a row of smaller openings across the chest and body lets the light escape in a soft, scattered glow. A simple bent wire loop at the top allows the piece to be hung, though it stands just as beautifully on its own.
The front opening holds a standard tealight candle, which sits securely on an interior ceramic ring. The base is unglazed terracotta-toned stoneware, typical of handcrafted studio pieces from this era. No maker's mark is visible. The style and glaze treatment are consistent with West German or comparable European studio pottery from the 1970s.
A piece with real atmosphere, equally at home on a windowsill, a bookshelf, or hanging outdoors on a sheltered terrace.

Die durchbrochenen Augen und die kleinen Öffnungen am Körper lassen das Kerzenlicht warm und stimmungsvoll hervorscheinen. Ein gebogener Drahtbügel ermöglicht das Aufhängen. Stil und Glasur deuten auf westdeutsche oder vergleichbare europäische Töpferware der 1970er Jahre hin. Guter Vintage-Zustand.
