This stunning teal blue glass bottle was designed by Wayne Husted for Stelvia, produced at the Empoli glassworks in Italy in the 1960s. Wayne Husted is best known for his decades of work with Blenko Glass in the United States, but his designs for Stelvia are equally prized among mid-century modern glass collectors.
The bottle features a bold moulded relief design on the front face: a stylised bird surrounded by flowers and leaves, rendered in the graphic folk-modern idiom that defines Husted‘s Stelvia work. The surface has a beautiful pebbled, textured quality that catches and refracts light in the most wonderful way, as the backlit photographs show. The colour is a rich teal blue, shifting from bright aqua in strong light to deep peacock blue in shade. The form is flat and architectural, almost like a flask, with gently rounded corners and a narrow circular neck.
A genuinely collectible piece that works beautifully displayed on a windowsill or shelf where light can pass through it. A matching bottle in amber is also available in my shop.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. There is a small chip on the rim of the neck opening, which is barely visible but can be felt by touch. Please see photo 8 for reference. This does not affect the display use of the bottle, no cracks. Normal small bubbles in the glass are part of the handmade production process.

Diese wunderschöne Flasche in Blaugrün wurde von Wayne Husted für Stelvia entworfen und in den 1960er Jahren in der Glashütte Empoli in Italien hergestellt. Das gepresste Relief zeigt einen stilisierten Vogel mit Blumen und Blättern im grafischen Mid-Century-Stil. Die strukturierte Oberfläche fängt das Licht auf faszinierende Weise ein, besonders wenn die Flasche im Gegenlicht steht. Am Rand der Flaschenöffnung befindet sich ein kleiner Chip, der kaum sichtbar, aber tastbar ist. Ansonsten in sehr gutem Vintage-Zustand, keine weiteren Chips oder Risse.
