Details
A wonderfully characterful vintage wicker duck basket, handwoven in dark brown rattan with a carved wooden beak and a woven head and tail. The body forms an open, generously sized basket, perfect for displaying fruit, bread, eggs, or any small items on the kitchen table or sideboard.

The open-weave construction gives it a light, airy feel despite its substantial size, and the warm brown tones of the rattan pair beautifully with natural home interiors.
The duck sits on a flat woven base ring and the tail curves upward at the back as a decorative flourish. The interior basket is open and unlined, with a natural woven floor.
The beak is shaped from a separate piece of pale natural wood and is neatly integrated into the woven head.

This style of figural animal basket was widely produced in Asia for the European and American market from the 1960s through the 1980s and makes a classic piece of folk and farmhouse decor.

Please note: there is some minor damage to the rattan at the tail/side area where a few strands have come loose. This is visible in photo 5 and is noted honestly. It does not affect the overall look or use of the basket from the front.

Dimensions:
Length (beak to tail): 24.5 cm / 9.6 inches
Width: 15.2 cm / 6.0 inches
Height: 16.8 cm / 6.6 inches
Weight: 75 g / 2.6 oz
