A set of four cup and saucer pairs from the Kahla Duett series, made by VEB Kahla in Thuringia, East Germany, most likely during the 1960s or 1970s. Each pair combines a clean white porcelain cup with a deep cobalt blue saucer covered in the characteristic embossed circle relief, creating the striking two-tone contrast that makes the Duett line so instantly recognizable.
The cups are simple and sturdy with a comfortable loop handle and a smooth white glaze inside and out. The saucers are fully cobalt blue with the bold circle pattern running around the rim, making them beautiful even when used without the cup. Together they are a classic DDR coffee or tea moment, ready to use.
Neither the cups nor the saucers carry a printed backstamp; like many Duett pieces, they were originally identified by paper stickers. They are part of a larger Duett collection listed separately in this shop, and this same listing is available in sets of four, so combining or expanding is easy.
Cup dimensions: height 5.5 cm / 2.2 inches, diameter 8.3 cm / 3.3 inches, length including handle 10.7 cm / 4.2 inches.
Saucer dimensions: diameter 15 cm / 5.9 inches, height 1.5 cm / 0.6 inches.
Total weight per set of 4: 1550 g / 54.7 oz.
Condition: very good vintage condition, no chips, no cracks, light traces of use consistent with age.
