A generous set of seven dinner plates from the Kahla Duett series, made by VEB Kahla in Thuringia, East Germany, most likely during the 1960s or 1970s. White porcelain at its most quietly elegant, these plates carry the same embossed circle motif around the rim that defines the Duett line, tying them beautifully to the cobalt blue pieces in the series.
The clean white glaze and the subtle relief border make these plates wonderfully versatile. They work just as well on a table set entirely in Duett as they do mixed with other white or blue and white pieces. A set of seven is a practical and pleasing number for everyday use or for a table that welcomes one extra guest.
These plates do not carry a Kahla backstamp. Like many Duett pieces, they were originally identified by paper stickers, which have been lost over the years. They are part of a larger Duett collection listed separately in this shop.
Dimensions per plate: diameter 25.3 cm / 10 inches, height 2.5 cm / 1 inch. Total weight of the set: 4252 g / 149.9 oz.
Condition: very good vintage condition, no chips, no cracks, light traces of use consistent with age. Several plates have one or more small yellow specks visible in the glaze, caused by natural inclusions during the firing process. This is characteristic of GDR porcelain from this period and is not considered a defect
