A quietly elegant pair of lidded porcelain bowls by Eschenbach, Bavaria Germany. The design is a study in contrast: crisp white porcelain above and below, with a wide band of mottled sage green and earthy brown glaze wrapping the middle of each bowl.
The lids sit neatly with a small flat knob, which carries the same glaze band as a detail. The interior is smooth white and fully glazed.
The bowls are square with softly rounded corners, a detail that is easy to miss at first glance but gives them a particularly refined, almost architectural quality. The lids are round, creating a charming contrast with the square body beneath.
These bowls have a distinctly mid-century feel, balancing refined Bavarian porcelain quality with a more organic, textured glaze treatment that was very much in the spirit of the 1960s. They work beautifully as individual serving bowls, jam or condiment dishes, or simply as decorative objects on a shelf. Sold as a pair, both with their original lids.
Both bowls are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Minor wear consistent with age.
Dimensions (per bowl with lid):
Diameter: 8 cm / 3.1 inches
Height: 7.6 cm / 3 inches
Combined weight (both bowls): 415 g / 14.6 oz
Color may vary on your screen (slightly dark or lighter, not a completely different color)
Some lifestyle or atmospheric images in this listing may be created with digital mockups, so small variations can occur. Please check my original product photos for the exact item you will receive.
All my items are vintage. Please zoom in on the photos to review closely and expect there to be slight imperfections or signs of age. I point out anything that would not be attributed to normal wear
